What will I learn?
First, you need to decide what kind of weaving you want to try. There are two major techniques to learn about: fabric weaving and tapestry/rug weaving.

Weaving Class

Student at table loom
Fabric weaving
You will be assigned a 'table loom' upon which you'll experiment with different kinds of weaves and materials, make placemats, napkins, and scarves. Just learning how to set up the loom itself requires the guidance and assistance of a more experienced weaver. You will also learn about various fibers that you can weave with. Looms and materials can be bought from the instructor if you decide you would like to pursue weaving more seriously.

Material /equipment fee
: $25. for first time registrants; $5.00 for those who continue to register for weaving classes.

Tapestry and Rug Weaving
Learn the various weaving and colour blending techniques, derived from the Gobelin technique, how to work from a design, how to create your own design, and how to construct your own simple frame loom. The course will be tailored to the level of each student, from beginner to advanced. The instructor will also have looms available for sale.

Material/equipment fee: $25.00 for beginner + a fully refundable $57.50 deposit on a frame loom. $5.00 facility fee for repeat registrants.
